View towards Hallickshole Hill from Latchmore Bottom, New Forest
A path runs along the south side of the Latchmore Brook from Ogdens to the driftway between Alderhill and SLoden Inclosures. This view is looking southeast from the path towards the sandy mound of Halickshole Hill. This sandy heathland is of the type once deplored by silviculturalists who wanted to put the "wastes" to use by creating timber plantations. The brown colour on Hallickshole Hill is dead heather, and the lighter brown colour lower down is dead bracken. Later on in the summer when the new growth comes this will change to purple on the top of the hill and green on its lower slopes.
