The Railway Station - old and newTQ3976 : Blackheath Station TQ3976 : Blackheath station, 1982 TQ3976 : Blackheath Station, trainsThe first photo above shows the station when there was a special siding on the South side for the local weed-killing train which is parked there; it was made mostly from old steam locomotive tenders. The track was concreted in to give a waterproof area where this special train could be serviced.
The middle photo shows how after the siding became disused nature took over - perhaps in revenge?! Note too the poor state of the platform canopies. By the time of the last photo these canopies had been renovated, I am happy to say. It also seems that the area of the former siding has been filled in to widen the platform and allow the erection of new facilities for travellers.
