Owners of the port, Associated British Ports (ABP), have turned the former commercial Wet Dock at Ipswich into a yachtsman paradise, with several hundred boats enjoying the benefit of deep water within the enclosed dock, with its automated lock. The building on the far side of the dock, with the Palladian-style columns, is the Old Custom House, headquarters of the port authority.
