SU3884 : Castle Hill, Letcombe Regis
near to Letcombe Bassett, Oxfordshire, Great Britain

Castle Hill, Letcombe Regis
These sheep are on the hillside to the north of the castle (i.e. Segsbury, a hill-fort). Like most of the fields on top of the hill and on its north-facing slope, the public has been given permissive access to this land.
The harness on the ram attaches a green marker. The colour will be transferred onto the backs of the ewes when he mates with them, making it possible to tell which of the ewes he (or one of his colleagues) has served. There were at least two rams in this flock.
Didcot Power Station is visible in the distance.
