According to a nearby information board, Dove Holes Quarry is "one of the largest mineral resources in the country", covering "an area of 220 hectares with consented reserves of 220 million tonnes of carboniferous limestone. At current rates of production (3-4 million tonnes per year) this has an operating life of over fifty years." Rights-of-way in the area are subject to change.
