Ditch at Fort Bovisand
Ditch at Fort Bovisand
In SX4850 : Hold onto your Hat, Tony Atkin reckons this overgrown cleft down the cliffside was "dug to create an inclined plane down which ammunition and supplies for the fort was lowered". He may well be right; my thought on seeing it was that it was a defensive feature. It's about 10 metres wide, although wider at the top. Below is SX4950 : Bovisand Bay.
