Looking east to bridge 34, Grand Union Canal
Bridge 34 over the Grand Union canal carries the road from Radford to Offchurch and Long Itchington. Radford bottom lock can be seen through the bridge arch in this photo. It the first of 23 locks lifting the canal from the valley of the rivers Leam and Avon up to Napton, the junction with the Oxford Canal. These locks are in three groups; the 'Radford Ten' (individual locks spread over a distance of approx three miles); Stockton locks (a flight of locks traditionally known as the 'Itchington Ten'); and a flight of three locks at Calcutt (traditionally known as 'Wigrams locks').
