Former shipyard in Port Glasgow
Former shipyard in Port Glasgow
Scott Lithgow's Glen yard used to produce super tankers weighing over a hundred thousand tons on this site. The ships were built in two sections (bow and stern) and then joined together in the nearby Great Harbour.

A short film about the yard can be seen here LinkExternal link

The A8 in the foreground is being rerouted along the riverside as part of a retail and housing development currently under way on this site. Helensburgh and the Ardmore Peninsula can be seen across the River Clyde. This photo was taken from a moving train.
