NG8753 : Scots pines above Loch Torridon

taken 12 years ago, near to Annat, Highland, Great Britain

Scots pines above Loch Torridon
Scots pines above Loch Torridon
As with most other pine woods in the Highlands, these are the remnants of a forest that would once have covered a much wider area. A bit further down it is more thickly wooded, but the presence of deer now means that no natural regeneration takes place. The mountain in the background is Liathach.
