Salisbury Hall
Salisbury Hall
I originally commented that the part of the building seen in this photo looked far more modern than other parts - for example the ancient stone wall in the foreground. I am grateful to John Webb for the following information:
"According to Pevsner's "Buildings of Hertfordshire", the present building is only part of a much larger one built in the time of Henry VIII, and modernised on the NW side (ie the part in the photograph) around 1670. Tudor work remains at the back, but is not easily seen from my visits to the site. The building on the far left is of recent construction and therefore not mentioned in Pevsner, published in 1977."
