ST0237 : Stile framed in blackthorn

taken 12 years ago, near to Roadwater, Somerset, Great Britain

Stile framed in blackthorn.
Stile framed in blackthorn.
Blackthorn grows extensively in the hedgerows of Somerset. Unlike hawthorn the blossom is borne on the naked stems before the leaves open, making a spectacular display in spring. Over the stile the footpath goes down some wooden steps onto the road next to Glasses Farm.
