NG2758 : Former police firing range

Former police firing range
Former police firing range
The remains of a destroyed static caravan in an isolated spot. Sited in a disused quarry, the remains can be seen of the caravan itself, a hard standing, and some office style furniture. I thought it had been residential, but a visitor to Geograph tells me that it was once the training / practice spot for police marksmen who came from throughout the Highland region for refresher courses. The caravan was for changing, gun cleaning, lunch breaks and general shelter etc. The green bank at the rear was the pistol firing butts. The caravan was destroyed in a storm about 5 years ago and was never replaced. The police now train elsewhere.
