Offloading a pilot gig
Offloading a pilot gig
A view looking to the southwest along the South Pier as a Dutch pilot gig is offloaded from the Scillonian III on its return from St. Marys following the 2006 World Pilot Gigs Championships.
Pilot gigs are 32 foot traditional wooden working boats with six single-oar rowing positions and a cox, and racing them is the main sport on the Isles of Scilly.
