Old and New Towers, Norwich
Old and New Towers, Norwich
The new House of Fraser store, flagship of the new Chapelfield development ( LinkExternal link ) includes a glass clad tower which stands in contrast to the 14th century tower in front, part of the city walls. The Chapelfield development is on the site where Caleys (later Rowntree Mackintosh and Nestle) chocolate factory stood. Before the war houses were built against the inside of the city wall; a map of 1910 shows one had a kitchen in the base of the tower, with a bedroom above ! LinkExternal link
