On the northern edge of this gridsquare the remains of St. Stephen's tower LinkExternal link are overlooked by the newly constructed Travelodge, part of the redevelopment of the TG2208 : Norwich Bus Station site.
The tower bears a plaque stating "Richard Spynke directed the fortification of the City gates and towers between 1337 and 1344. The work was carried out at his own expense."
