NO6171 : Torrwood Cottage
near to Inch of Arnhall, Aberdeenshire, Great Britain

Torrwood Cottage
This 'cottage' lies just off the B966 Edzell to Fettercairn road. A very grand cottage it had been with a pillared front entrance and rounded gables with full
length windows. There are arched rooms underneath the building with fireplaces
and storage quarters with steps leading from the upper floor. Half a kilometre
east on the same road is the small ruin of Torrwood Lodge so this might have been of greater status than its cottage title implies. On the 1848 Forfarshire
map Tor Hill behind the cottage was completely tree covered.
