St. Mary's, Maulden : Eastern end
The oldest parts of this church date from the C13th, but it was enlarged and partly rebuilt in 1859. The cost of this building work was largely borne by the Rector of the time, Charles Ward and the Duke of Bedford.
This church is built in the local chocolate-coloured stone (Cf. TL0643 : All Saints Church, Wilshamstead (Wilstead) and TL0338 : Church of St. Andrew the Apostle, Ampthill )
