This path is on the north side of the goit (or mill stream) which fed water from the River Aire from a sluice by the weir SE2634 : Weir on the River Aire, Kirkstall to Burley Mills (now an office building, Waterside Court). An aerial picture from 1950 on Leodis shows that the goit used to carry a lot more water LinkExternal link - this picture was taken near the bottom of the aerial photo.
