Drury Hill, 1967 - 1
This narrow street of intriguing and ancient shops ran down to Broad Marsh from Bridlesmith Gate. It was demolished to make way for the Broad Marsh shopping centre. Train sets and Corgi toy cars could be had from the shop on the right. The shop with the stylish sixties pine front is the then-new independent bookshop Bux, the thinking sixth-former's alternative to Nottingham's only other bookshop, the staid Sisson and Parker's in Wheeler Gate. When Drury Hill disappeared, Bux moved to larger premises on Lincoln Street and flourished briefly.
