SJ6255 : Entrance Lock, "Llangollen Canal"

taken 27 years ago, near to Barbridge, Cheshire, Great Britain

Entrance Lock, "Llangollen Canal"
Entrance Lock, "Llangollen Canal"
At Hurleston, junction with the Shropshire Union Canal, Main Line. A small dark sign says "Welcome to the Llangollen Canal", The larger white sign says something else, probably more useful for navigation. The bank of a reservoir is on the right, taking its feed from the Dee at Llantysilio, which then runs all the way down the canal. This saved the canal from abandonment, in pre-leisure cruising days.
