SJ6275 : Saltersford Tunnel, west end

taken 27 years ago, near to Little Leigh, Cheshire, Great Britain

Saltersford Tunnel, west end
Saltersford Tunnel, west end
An unusual near-parabolic arch, a feature of the early Trent & Mersey canal tunnels, not perpetuated. It seems a more circular, stepped-down reinforcement has been necessary some way in - best seen in the reflection.
