Mussel men with their harvest
Mussel men with their harvest
There are so many mussels exposed at low tide around the old harbour that an expedition to gather them needs not to take long. Once, these bivalves must have formed a significant part of the local diet but few gather them now, perhaps because of health concerns, however untreated sewage no longer enters the water here.
