Dam in Cors Caron
Dam in Cors Caron
The land of along the east edge of the bog has been drained in centuries past, along with drainage channels feeding towards the river. This results in a lower water table than what would naturally occur LinkExternal link . There are a number of dams running roughly perpendicular to the direction of the Afon Teifi, which would have separated fields to be drained. The dams are breached these days, and the bog has spread again in this area. Cors Caron Nature Reserve's Riverside Walk uses this particular dam to reach the river itself. The breaches do require a bit of bog hopping, much simplified on this occasion as most of the ground was frozen hard.
