Water level gauge in the Afon Teifi
Water level gauge in the Afon Teifi
Located at the point where a tributary meets the Afon Teifi inside Cors Caron bog. At the time this picture was taken, the water level was fairly low because there had been little precipitation and a prolonged cold spell. This will change once the snow on the surrounding hills melts! Water level is a critical parameter for the health of the bog, and apart from seasonal extremes such as this, the water level is generally lower than desirable. In a healthy bog, the water table would reach up to just a few centimetres below the base of the surface plants LinkExternal link .
