Old sluice for the goit, Kirkstall
Old sluice for the goit, Kirkstall
The stone piers mark the entrance to the goit SE2634 : Goit, Kirkstall where water flows into it just above the weir SE2634 : Weir on the River Aire, Kirkstall. The path across the goit is on a substantial stone wall, with a small sluice gate in it. This wall was probably not there in the past, as old photos show more water in the goit than would be possible now.
