SU4656 : A snowy A34

A snowy A34
A snowy A34
The day was full of weather warnings, but few road closures.

My trip from the East Midlands to east Dorset was reasonably good and as fast as any other. The slower speeds required were balanced nicely by the lack of traffic so, for example I was stopped for no more than a minute or so when joining the A34 from the M40! The M40 between junctions 10 and 9 had only two lanes in operation as lane 3 was snow-bound. But the worst part of the journey was a few miles north of here at the A34 / M4 interchange where quite suddenly lane 2 was deep-in-snow and lane 1 was semi-thawed with stud-like lumps of ice remaining, that was quite scary for a mile or so.
