Hedge, Faulston Down
Hedge, Faulston Down
The bridleway is bordered by high hedges at this point. Hedges provide shelter for many animals, each of which exploits a particular niche. For example, the wood mouse tunnels in the soil under the hedge, the peacock butterfly lays eggs on nettles and the blackbird nests among the hawthorn branches.
