Cnap a'Chaolais
Cnap a'Chaolais
On this spot in November 1752, Seamus a'Ghlinne was hung for the murder of Cailean Ruadh Ghlinn Iubhair, the factor appointed to the forfeited Ardsheil estate by the Hanoverian government. Seamus a'Ghlinne protested his innocence to the end, and as the noose was being placed around his neck, he recited Psalm 35 - "False witnesses did rise up. They laid to my charge things that I knew not".
