Converted Windmill/Doocot at Bielside, near West Barns
Located at Bielside House in the West Barns Conservation Area. Windmills were rare in Scotland and were commoner in the east, where rainfall is lower and there are fewer water-power sites than in the west. The adjacent house is later, and the windows date from the conversion of the mill into a summer house, probably in the second half of the 19th century.
