Then in a sorry state, the parapet of the bridge over the white-arched portal had been pushed into the water, making navigation impossible without a lot of hard and dirty work. The tunnel was then officially closed anyway. The tunnels on the left were mines. The tunnel is now restored to qualified navigation, with the area south of the canal transformed into the Black Country Museum.
