NY9710 : Gate to the Seven Hills

Gate to the Seven Hills
Gate to the Seven Hills
The bridleway that runs up to Citron Seat and then continues west is very indistinct west of the summit. The map shows it ending randomly on the moor, pretty much where the far wall in this photograph crosses it. Previous experience shows that there is no easy way to cross that wall, and following it to the south is boggy and trackless. This gate, however, leads into the enclosure to the north, from where there is no further barrier to prevent the walker (or skier) from reaching the Sleightholme road, by crossing an area of Drumlins marked as the "Seven Hills". On this ski ascent, opening the gate would have required major digging, so I had already crossed over the fence at a convenient point where its depth of burial meant I could just ski over it.
