York Minster from the city walls
York Minster from the city walls
This view in early springtime is hardly possible when trees are bedecked with leaves. Where did medieval church builders acquire their ghostly limestone and how did they transport it to York? The likelihood is that it was quarried in the Tadcaster area and then loaded onto river barges.
