Old Jetty at Otter Ferry
Old Jetty at Otter Ferry
Between the 18th century and as recently as 1948 a ferry operated across Loch Fyne between here and West Otter Ferry. The jetty and quay were built by James Campbell in the late 1700s. The name Otter derives from the Gaelic oitir - meaning a sandbank or spit of land. Near this point an Otir extends a mile out into the loch.
