River Dove near Stretton, Staffordshire
River Dove near Stretton, Staffordshire
When low, the river splits into two channels under and south of the canal aqueduct. This image shows the main one. In times of flood this is all one large fast flowing torrent. SK2626 : River Dove in flood

The River Dove is about 65 kilometres (40 miles) in length. It rises on Axe Edge Moor near Buxton and flows generally southwards to its confluence with the River Trent at Newton Solney. From there, its waters reach the North Sea via the Humber Estuary. For most of its way it forms the boundary between the counties of Staffordshire to the west (right) and Derbyshire to the east (left).(Source: Wikipedia)
