MV 'Maria' leaves Teignmouth harbour
MV 'Maria' leaves Teignmouth harbour
On the high tide, probably carrying a cargo of ball clay to mainland Europe. Vessels have to turn sharply into the narrow, regularly-dredged river-mouth, always preceded or followed by the pilot boat. See, for example, SX9372 : The Ness Shaldon - ship's arrival and SX9372 : Shaldon seen across the mouth of the Teign. Shaldon in the background.
