Rafting Easan Dubha in low water
Rafting Easan Dubha in low water
Kayakers walk round Easan Dubha in low water (and most do so at any other level, too, as it is hard!) Whilst we were portaging, we were surprised to see a rafting group come down the river, which we would have thought was far too low for rafts. At the point seen here, just above the drop, the raft had grounded, and the guide was having everyone jump up and down to get it to shift towards the intimidating drop a foot or two at a time. Must be an unnerving pastime... The river was extremely cold, with ice on most of the rocks, and excellent skiing to be had on the hills in bright sunshine. Most of the river, meanwhile, was in deep shade until late afternoon when the sun lined up with the valley, providing highlights on the rocks.
