Pennine Way hits the A66
Pennine Way hits the A66
Going northwards from God's Bridge, the Pennine Way arrives at the A66 at this point, and continues immediately on the opposite side. However, in normal weather one is not recommended to attempt to cross the road dodging the speeding juggernauts, but head 200m west to an underpass. The stile, despite what the sign says, does not lead to a layby, which is a good hundred metres off to the east along the verge. Indeed, today, it led to a deep snowdrift, which made my climb up onto the road entertainingly difficult. No juggernauts to dodge, though, as the A66 was closed in both directions.
