SS8847 : Dead trees, the marsh, Porlock Weir

taken 14 years ago, near to West Porlock, Somerset, England

Dead trees, the marsh, Porlock Weir
Dead trees, the marsh, Porlock Weir
This area is inundated at high tide due to a breach in the shingle ridge (1996). The area is slowly changing from farmland to salt marsh. The National Trust, who own & manage the area have taken the decision not to protect the area. A good example of managed retreat.
The trees were killed by the inundation of sea water.
