SS8747 : Dead trees, the marsh, Porlock Weir

taken 8 years ago, near to West Porlock, Somerset, Great Britain

Dead trees, the marsh, Porlock Weir
Dead trees, the marsh, Porlock Weir
This area is inundated at high tide due to a breach in the shingle ridge (1996). The area is slowly changing from farmland to salt marsh. The National Trust, who own & manage the area have taken the decision not to protect the area. A good example of managed retreat.
The trees were killed by the inundation of sea water.
