NR7794 : The Sailor's Grave at Ardnoe Point

taken 9 years ago, near to Crinan, Argyll And Bute, Great Britain

The Sailor's Grave at Ardnoe Point.
The Sailor's Grave at Ardnoe Point.
The grave of a sea captain from Glasgow. He died of cholera on board his ship and was buried at this spot. It is reached by a very rough path, close to the sea edge from Crinan Harbour. Heavy going after leaving the board-walk section, more of an assault course. Below the base of a cliff, thick tree cover, bracken in mid summer, peace and contentment when you reach it. The ash tree is a good marker when the vegetation is up!
