The cuttings above and below the railway were made first to allow access. The railway bridge was constructed on this side on a foundation that extended under the line in a tunnel on either side . This allowed the line closure to be for only a long weekend as the remaining embankment was removed and the bridge was pushed into place.
Now in February 2015 they will have to do it all over again , what a pity there was not the foresight or money to have dualled it in the first place.
