Isles of Scilly - a view from Gwennap Head
The mirage effect appears to show the islands resting slightly above the horizon. Viewed from Gwennap Head, the long island to the left is St Mary's, whilst the right-hand island is St Martin's. The daymark on St Martin's (at SV9416) is clearly visible, although the islands are some 43 km distant. The clear January air facilitated this rare sight.
