SS7542 : Exmoor Forest Boundary Marker Stone

taken 10 years ago, 4 km from Furzehill, Devon, Great Britain

Exmoor Forest Boundary Marker Stone
Exmoor Forest Boundary Marker Stone
Two of the original marker stones that showed the boundary between Brendon Common and the Royal Forest of Exmoor. Despite its name, trees never grew here - Forest had a different meaning in Norman times. The more recent fence posts have weathered to almost match the stones.
