NZ0314 : Winter Ash

Winter Ash
Winter Ash
Of almost a dozen Ash trees on the property, this one is the most isolated and easiest to photograph. It still looks the right shape despite having shed several large branches over the years. It stands in the middle of a drystone wall separating two meadows, and the gradual expansion of its trunk over time means that the bits of wall nearest the tree are now starting to look quite shaky. A deep, cold mist had almost burnt off and the sun come out as this photograph was taken in the middle of the day but the trees on the far side of the meadow are still hazy looking into the sun.
