Common Lock near Fradley, Staffordshire
On the Trent and Mersey Canal, Lock No 14 is not a deep one. It raises the water level by 4ft 6in (about 1.4 metres) as the canal proceeds westwards towards Fradley Junction (Coventry Canal). This section of the canal was open by 1770. The eleven year construction project was completed in 1777.
