Bridge No 49 by Bagnall Lock, Alrewas, Staffordshire
Trent and Mersey Canal opened here by 1770 though it took another seven years before the route to Preston Brook was completed, by which time the engineer, James Brindley had died (1772). The bridge carries a lane and public footpath from Kings Bromley Road to the Lock Cottages. The Navigation pub which used to be short way up the road to the right is now an "Indian" restaurant.
