The Peat Track
The Peat Track
According to an information panel in Fort William, the Cow Hill Circuit is a 9km walk, increasing to 13km if diversions to some viewpoints are included (one of these is NN0972 : Blarmafoldach Viewpoint, and another is at the summit of Cow Hill: NN1173 : Track to Cow Hill mast).

The part of the route that is on the southern side of Cow Hill is also known as the Peat Track (Ceum na Mna); it follows a path that was used by local crofters when digging and collecting peat.

Up to this point, the path had been in the open (NN1172 : The Peat Track); the descent from here onwards is largely through forest.
