The Pink & Lily, Parslow's Hillock
The Pink & Lily, Parslow's Hillock
Situated in Pink Road, this hostelry was originally a family home dating from the 1700's. It then became a hostelry in the early 19th Century, being named after Mr Pink, a butler at Hampden House, and Miss Lillie, a chambermaid. Rupert Brooke and his friends used to stay there for short holidays before the Great War, and he wrote poetry there which is now preserved. Sadly, he died as a soldier in 1915 during that War on the Greek island of Skyros at the age of 27. The postcode of this pub is HP27 0RJ.
