SJ8959 : Gate to Grange

Gate to Grange
Gate to Grange
This gate is the entrance to a former walkway that led from Biddulph Grange to the church. Until recently it was very overgrown when Biddulph Rotary renovated part of it to make a path between the church and the Town Burial Ground. The walkway and surrounding woodland are now known as 'The Garden of Tranquillity' and it is maintained by the Biddulph Town Council. Notice that, at the bottom left-hand side, there was a boot scraper- presumably to stop mud being carried onto what would have been a pristine pathway. I am indebted to a locally knowledgeable person for the above information.
