North Morecambe Bay and mountains at sunset
North Morecambe Bay and mountains at sunset
The light was fading fast when this photo was taken from near the kissing gate which can take you to High Stephen's Head which is off camera to the right. Also the highest point in Bowland is not far, that being the Ward's Stone up a fence to the left over the area called the Mounds. The magnificent view before us is the sea and treacherous sands of north Morecambe Bay and the Lake District mountains on the horizon. Down amongst those green fields the River Lune lies hidden in its beautiful valley which not after too many a mile joins the sea at Morecambe Bay.
